Why HIV/AIDS remains a priority in Nagaland
According to national HIV estimates published by the National AIDS Control Organisation (NACO), Nagaland and its North-Eastern neighbours have among the highest adult HIV prevalence rates in India. Stigma, silence and lack of information still stop many people from getting tested and staying on treatment.
HIV today is a manageable condition. With free testing and antiretroviral therapy (ART) available through government centres, the biggest barriers are awareness and fear. Guardian Angel works to remove both.

Awareness & education
Sessions in schools, colleges, churches and villages on how HIV spreads, how it is prevented and why testing matters.
Testing & treatment linkage
Accompanying people to Integrated Counselling and Testing Centres (ICTC) and ART centres, and supporting adherence to treatment.
Counselling & care
Confidential counselling, home visits and peer support for people living with HIV and their families.
Rights & anti-stigma
Raising awareness of protections under the HIV and AIDS (Prevention and Control) Act, 2017, and challenging discrimination.
Youth & vulnerable groups
Focused outreach with young people and communities at higher risk, including people who use drugs.
Family & livelihood support
Connecting affected households to social protection schemes and livelihood opportunities.
